How Can You Be Sure To Be Paid For Your Ebook?
Published by Stephen Beck
Logistically, how do you handle selling both a physical and an electronic information product? Although there is an electronic payment company that is capable of handling both simultaneously, if you are just starting to sell information products, I recommend other methods.
ClickBank is a payment service that is set up to handle digital products. In fact, it only handles digital products, so it is perfect if you are starting out in selling information online. Another benefit of ClickBank is that it handles the transaction entirely for you. You never see the credit card info of your customer. The downside is, that if you have a physical product to go along with your digital product, you cannot use ClickBank to sell both of your products.
So what if you want to attach a physical product to your digital information product? Well, you are either going to have to offer the physical product as a bonus item or you are going to need to send your customer to another payment company to buy the physical product.
A great service that I use is called 1ShoppingCart. This company is set up to handle both types of products for you and has a lot of great features. The downside of 1ShoppingCart, especially if you are first starting out is that there is a monthly fee attached to using this service. So you have got to be selling some stuff to make it worth its while.
Alternately, you can use a company such as PayPal or MouseECommerce. It is of course free to set up a PayPal account. In a situation where you want to offer both electronic and physical products, it is a good idea to use ClickBank for your digital product and PayPal for your physical product. Here is how I would handle this scenario. If, for example, you are selling an ebook and some audio CD?s that go along with your ebook, you can run them through and do the digital purchase through ClickBank, then on your download page have a little mini-sales letter with a PayPal ?buy it? button. Your mini-sales letter should say something to the effect of, ?Hey, get the audio CD?s for $37 more?, then when they check out through PayPal, you would ship them the physical CD?s.
Those are some options for how to handle the logistics of your transactions. Again, I would probably use 1ShoppingCart to handle transactions if you are making a fair amount and can afford to pay a monthly fee to use their services. However, if you are just starting out, a combination of ClickBank for digital products and PayPal for physical products is probably your best bet.
