Do you have an idea rolling around in your head? Are you looking for an online business to start?  It’s easier than you think and you can get started right away!

There are a lot of models to choose from when starting your own online business. I have started a number of online businesses and have coached many students how to start a business on the internet. But regardless of the model you choose, you must have one thing on a regular basis – new visitors!

And one of the best weays to do that is getting high rankings in the search engines (think Google) using article marketing. You can easily and quickly get high search engine rankings from your articles and these rankings will propel your business into the spotlight on the internet.  So let’s talk about why articles work.

Submit Your Articles To Authority Sites

When you submit to article directories like Ezine articles, Article Snatch, or Articlesbase, many times your article will get ranked in Google for your particular keyword right away.  Usually within weeks.  So write a 300-700 article with a resource box that points back to your website, and use the authority of these article directory sites to build your reputation as an expert in the field.

Use Articles To Generate Direct Traffic

Once you submit your article to an article directory, other blog and web site owners come and pick it up. They need fresh content and they pick up your article from an article directory to put on their site.  When people come to visit those sites, they read your article and they read your resource box (also called a bio box).  And then they find their way over to your website.  You get easy traffic – all from that one article.

Articles Also Give You Back Links

A back link is like a vote.  Many times my pages and my interior pages show up in Google because lots of other people have posted my articles to their sites.  For each one of these, I get a backward link, and as I start to amass more and more backward links, I rank higher and higher in Google.

Just because you get a high search engine ranking does not mean you are going to hold on to it if you do not keep working at it.  This is because there are other competitors trying to get that same spot.  But using article marketing can help you keep that coveted spot on the first page of Google.  Writing and posting articles is your best first step when looking for an online business to start.

How To Start An Online Business In 7 Simple Steps

So are you ready to take the plunge and start an Internet business?  Let me show you how to start an online business in 7 easy steps. These simple steps work every time and I call this my can’t miss formula.

1) Choose a profitable topic that is interesting to you.
Now there are two caveats. First, the topic must be profitable.  You would be surprised how small a niche can be and still be profitable.  Also, make sure you have some competition. Yes, you heard right. Make sure other marketers think this topic is profitable too or you find yourself on a lonely street with no customers in sight!

Second, make sure the topic is interesting to you. Otherwise, you may run out of gas before you finish the project. Meaning, if you have no interest in the singles’ dating scene, but everybody says that’s where all the money, you are going to run out of gas before you get very far.  It’s just not your passion.

2) Capture the emails of people interested in that same topic.
Offer something of value (free report, mini course, video, etc.) in exchange for a name and an email. The ability to communicate with your prospects via email is the single most important thing in how to start an online business.

3) Ask those people what they want.
That is really important.  When someone gives you their first name and email, have a box where they can enter their biggest question about your topic.  Now you will know exactly what your customers want.  As people pile into your email list to pick up their free gift, they will also be telling you exactly what their biggest question is.

How hard is it going to be to find the answers to their biggest questions?  Not very hard if you know anything about the topic.  And the questions you do not know the answers to, you can look them up on the Internet.  That is really easy!

4) Give them what they said they wanted.
Imagine if you had an information product that answered the exact questions that people asked.  How hard would it be to turn around ands sell those people an information product that answered their biggest questions about that topic?

You say to them, “You know what?  I know exactly what you want to know.  I have an info product that answers the exact questions you asked me.  It will cost you $27.  How about it?  Do you want to make a trade?”

Well, duh, that is a real easy trade for them.  And they will probably read through your e-book and think, “How did he read my mind?”  Well, 500 of you had about the same 8 – 10 questions.  I just created an information product based on the questions you asked me.  See how easy it is to start an online business? You don’t need to re-invent the wheel.

5) Put the whole thing on auto pilot.
Now that you have chosen a profitable topic, collected emails, and asked people what they want – it is time to create an information product to meet that need.  Whatever they tell you they want, give it right back to them.  Then put up your sales page, collect the payment and deliver the product digitally.  Everything is on auto pilot, and you are free to follow your passions.

6) Offer more to those who want more.
Because if they loved your $27 ebook, imagine how they will fall in love with your $270 home study course.  Or your $2700 weekend boot camp, or your very exclusive (and expensive) one-on-one coaching!

7) Tie every information product to monthly continuity income.
Now, a lot of you are probably thinking, “But I am not an expert in anything.”  You don’t have to be an expert.  Let me ask you a question.  Do you really like learning from experts?  They’re condescending.  They don’t communicate very well.  And quite frankly, most of them are boring.  You don’t need a PhD or an MD or any other degrees behind your name.  All you need to do is take somebody by the hand and show them exactly how you got through the problem.

And a great way to do this is by offering a month to month coaching program and that is money you can count on each month.

So, here are the 7 steps on how to start an online business. Start doing each one and you will see your online income soar!
